Geremie R. Barmé is an historian, editor and translator who has published widely on late-imperial and modern China. He is the Director of the Australian Centre on China in the World (CIW), College of Asia & the Pacific, The Australian National University.

David Brophy is an historian of China and Central Asia. Following a period as a Post-doctoral Fellow at CIW he joined the University of Sydney.

Carolyn Cartier is an urban geographer who works on comparative urban change and politics of culture in China and Hong Kong. She is a professor at the University of Technology, Sydney and an Adjunct Director of CIW.

Shih-Wen Chen is a Post-doctoral Fellow at CIW who specialises in literature and history.

Gloria Davies is a literary scholar and historian of China, Associate Professor at the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics at Monash University and an Adjunct Director of CIW.

Jeremy Goldkorn is a writer and new media entrepreneur based in Beijing, and founder of Danwei.com, the digital research collaborator of CIW.

Jane Golley is an economist focused on a range of Chinese transition and development issues. She is an Associate Director of CIW.

Mark Harrison is Senior Lecturer in Chinese at the University of Tasmania, and an Adjunct Director of CIW.

Leta Hong Fincher is a PhD candidate in Sociology at Tsinghua University and an award-winning former journalist.

Gerry Groot is Senior Lecturer in Chinese Studies and Head of Discipline for the Centre for Asian Studies, University of Adelaide. He writes on Chinese politics, united front work, soft power and related issues. He is an Adjunct Director of CIW.

Elisa Nesossi is a Post-doctoral Fellow at CIW. Her research focusses on Chinese law, criminal justice and human rights.

Benjamin Penny is a historian of religions in China, Deputy Director of CIW and editor of East Asian History.

Richard Rigby is a former diplomat and intelligence analyst. He is now Director of the ANU China Institute and Associate Director of CIW.

Brendan Taylor is Head of the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at ANU. He is a specialist on great power strategic relations in Asia and the Pacific.

Luigi Tomba is a political scientist who has published widely on China’s political and social change and the urban condition. He is also the co-editor of The China Journal and is an Associate Director of CIW.

Susan Trevaskes is an Australian Research Council Research Fellow at Griffith University and an Adjunct Director of CIW. She publishes on Chinese criminal justice including policing, punishment and the politics of law and order.

Brian Tsui, a Postdoctoral Fellow at CIW, conducts research on the history of the radical right in China and China-India connections in the first half of the twentieth century.

Sebastian Veg is a Research Professor at the School of Advanced Studies in Social Science (EHESS), Paris, and currently director of the French Centre for Research on Contemporary China (CEFC) in Hong Kong. His interests are in twentieth-century Chinese literature, political debates and intellectual history.

Rachel Wang is a researcher at Danwei.com in Beijing and a graduate of the University of Michigan.

Barry van Wyk completed Masters programs in Pretoria and at the London School of Economics and is now a Beijing-based writer and project manager for CIW affiliate Danwei.com.
